Classification, Characteristics, and Application Fields of Fiber Optic Patch Cables
日期:2023-10-27 03:51:57
Fiber Optic Patch Cable is a cable used to connect optical fiber devices for transmitting optical signals.

Fiber Optic Patch Cable Classification

Fiber optic patch cables can typically be classified based on the optical fiber's transmission characteristics and applications. Common types include single-mode (SM) and multimode (MM) patch cables for silica-based optical fibers. They can also be categorized by the connectors used, such as FC, SC, ST, LC, MPO, MTRJ, MU, SMA, E2000, DIN4, D4, and more.

Some common types of fiber optic patch cables include non-adapted and adapted cables, such as LC-LC, SC-SC, FC-SC, FC-LC, FC-ST, SC-SC, SC-ST, and more.

Single-mode Fiber: Generally represented by yellow patch cables with blue connectors and protective jackets, designed for transmitting a single mode of light signals, featuring a smaller core diameter, typically 9/125 microns. Single-mode fiber is suitable for long-distance, high-bandwidth transmission, such as long-haul communications and data center connections.

Multimode Fiber: Typically represented by orange (or sometimes gray) patch cables with beige or black connectors and protective jackets. These cables are used for transmitting multimode light signals, typically with larger core diameters like 50/125 or 62.5/125 microns, and are used for shorter-distance transmissions.

Characteristics

1.Low insertion loss
2.Good repeatability
3.High return loss
4.Excellent interchangeability
5.Good temperature stability
6.Strong tensile performance

Application Fields

Fiber optic patch cables play a crucial role in various application areas, primarily including the following aspects: They are used to connect optical fiber equipment such as fiber switches, routers, OLTs (Optical Line Terminals), and more to facilitate high-speed data transmission. This includes applications in telephone networks, broadband Internet, Fiber to the Home (FTTH), and others.
